About Scholarship Coordinator Christy McNorton

Christy McNorton is the Scholarship Coordinator of The Bessie Morris Foundation.

Christy McNorton is a Los Angeles native and attended schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District, graduating from Washington Preparatory High School. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management degree from Howard University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Laverne. After working for seven years in the credit union industry, Christy changed industries and began a career in fiscal services in public education. She currently works at a local community college district as a grants accounting and compliance officer. She previously managed the student accounts and cashier's office at CSU Dominguez Hills and managed the general obligation bond program for a local K-12 school district.

Christy is a member of Park Windsor Baptist Church where she serves on several committees including the board of trustees and pastoral relations committee, supports the church's scholarship program and has mentored youth in the congregation. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She has been a supporter of the Bessie Morris Foundation and now serves as our scholarship coordinator.

In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, visiting her family in New Orleans and St. Louis, and listening to podcasts. Christy is currently pursuing certifications in grants management and plans to expand her knowledge in that area. She looks forward to working with the Bessie Morris Foundation and being a positive influence on its participants.
