Joyceln Martinez Selected for 2018 Prom Dreams - Explores Life's Opportunities

The Bessie Morris Foundation caught up with Jocelyn Martinez, a 2018 Prom Dream winner and graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School.

Joycelyn reflected upon how she felt after finding out she was a Bessie Morris Foundation Prom Dreams winner. "I was extremely excited and felt blessed to be given the opportunity to attend the most memorable night of high school."

During her initial meeting with Joycelyn, BMF founder Ivory Freeman was impressed with her determination and consideration for others.

"There were so many attending my prom. It was so packed on the dance floor that my date and I got elbowed and stepped on! But it was definitely worth it, even though someone threw a water bottle too and it hit me right in my face! I still had fun and an evening to remember.

"I want to give a huge thank you to the Bessie Morris Foundation and Ivory for her hard work to give youths like myself the dream we've always desired!"

Now attending California State University, Dominguez Hills, Jocelyn finds that college has been very different from high school because they're are so many different organizations students can get involved in. She is interested in all her classes. Joycelyn's major is currently undeclared as she explores opportunities, but she is interested in pursuing Communications with a focus on Public Relations.
